Meet Our Staff
Mike Borgert - Senior Pastor
I have 25 plus years ministry experience. Prior to Ferry Memorial Church, I served congregations in Grand Rapids, MI ((1998-2001); Muskegon, MI (2002-2010); Barrie, ON (2010-2020); and Chatham, ON (2020-2025). I received my B.A. from Calvin College (now University) in 1995, my Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in 2002 and Master of Theology (Th.M.) in 2009, both from Calvin Theological Seminary and am currently nearing completion of a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) from Western Theological Seminary. I have written widely on topics ranging from worship and prayer to Christian political and social engagement and church history and church polity.
I have served outside the parish context in numerous ways as a high school and university instructor, as a board member of various charitable organizations and non-profits, as a volunteer community police chaplain, as a mentor to at-risk youth, and as a baseball, basketball and soccer coach. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, reading, fishing and hiking. My wife, Jeanne, and I have been blessed with four twenty something kids (three of our own and one by marriage). Our daughter, Kate, and her husband, Zaais, live in Vancouver, BC where he works and she attends graduate school at the University of British Columbia. Our son, Jonathan, is a student at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and our son, Alex, is a student at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
Please feel free to reach out to me pastormike@ferrychurch.org I would love to get to know you better and hear how Ferry Church can practically help you to grow in your love for God and your neighbors.
My name is Mike Borgert. I have the privilege of serving Ferry Memorial Church as the senior pastor, with responsibilities for most of the preaching and pastoral care and overall leadership of the church. I accepted the call to serve here and I began working at the church in June 2025. My wife and I both have long time connections to this area and returned to be nearer to our parents as they age. When I was interviewing, I was impressed by the many ministries of the church and the warm community that is so evident here. If you are in the White Lake area, I’d invite you to worship with us some Sunday. You will be warmly welcomed!
I was born into a Christian home and was blessed to have two parents who taught me to love and follow Jesus. While that journey hasn’t always been easy or straightforward, I am still walking with Him and still learning and growing and discovering what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. I am grateful for God’s mercies that are new every morning.
Beth Wohlford - Pastor of Youth and Families
Hi, my name is Beth Wohlford, and I am the Pastor of Youth and Families here at Ferry Church! I direct children’s ministry and youth group.
I have been in West Michigan since August 2020. I graduated with my B.A. in Youth Ministry from Trinity Christian College and my Master of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary. Growing up primarily in the Chicago suburbs, I love Michigan's beaches and hiking areas. Being outdoors is one of my favorite things. From the roaming turkeys to the view of the lakes, I've found White Lake to be a beautiful place to explore!
Continually cultivating a close, transformational relationship with Jesus is something I believe to be vital. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to help others grow in their faith here at Ferry Church. I'd love to get to know you more—whether you are a member at Ferry, or are interested in learning more about faith and/or the church. Reach out to me to find a time to talk at Bethwohlford@ferrychurch.org.
